Hey, you know what sucks? Finding out that not only do your upstairs neighbors pay less rent than you, they have a washer/dryer. “Oh, you don’t?” they ask, seeing you waddle up the front steps with your laundry basket. No, we do not. “Well, you probably pay less rent!” No, we do not, but they don’t know I know what they pay. I smile, “I don’t know about that,” and whisper (the landlord’s girlfriend downstairs could have her windows open), “It’s a two-bedroom.” A subdivided two-bedroom, with a shower stall and no washer/dryer. The silver lining to this situation? The backyard is all ours.
