New York —> Boston

magicmolly:

The bus ride from New York to Boston is a nice one, confirming all your hopes about what such a drive might be like. Greenery flanks the highway, there are towns named “Saugatuck” and “East Norwalk”, and roadside diversions include billboard ads for Connecticut.

There is no ventilation inside the bus but it is obvious that the air outside smells great. Traffic is consistently stuck in the opposite direction, creating a feeling of comparative speed and ease. Occasionally you see a marsh.

Aww, exits 16 and 17! Town or, you know, amazing small city of 85,000 people. Norwalk pride for life, etc. etc. And Saugatuck is a section of the neighboring town of Westport. Also a river. While I love the mention, it also made me laugh: less than an hour outside the city and completely built-up, I think we’re way too far downstate for idyllic trees and clean, fresh air. Maybe wait until Meriden or New Britain? Commence laughing at me for using terms like “upstate” in reference to Connecticut.
