I’ll say it right now: I will never be over the cupcake thing. In Connecticut ten days ago for my mom’s birthday, we picked up a couple at Crumbs as we strolled through downtown Westport. Not living in the city, where their locations long ago reached ubiquity, the novelty of the place still appealed to her. The cupcakes were just as mediocre as in Manhattan. I wish this applejack cupcake were in Fairfield County, not Westchester: I want them for my birthday (one week away). Alternately, I want banana cupcakes with raspberry buttercream from Butter Lane.
